Curbs and Stoops translates art and design into apparel that is refreshingly urban and hip. Our apparel, like art prints, are sold in limited editions. This constant change in design allows our apparel to respond to trends, moods, and cultures as they change with us. Our clothing reflects an idea in a period of time.”

When we received a tip via email about this site, we initially took note of the minimalist (stark) site and the bold and simple designs that made up most of their current collection. There are a few highlights, like this all-over print:

But we found most of the remaining designs relatively tame with limited appeal. It was only upon further exploration that we found the real treasure here.

Visit their blog to find an explosion of urban design of all mediums (suddenly the minimalist site design makes sense) and rich commentary on art-related events and shows happening across the states. We particularly enjoyed this round up of Obama art, some of which we hadn’t seen before.

They also offer a handful of prints in their Art Gallery which is far more enjoyable to view than their selection of shirts.

Guys, that’s what you should be printing on t-shirts.

The idea isn’t new, per say, but “Jason” puts a fresh spin on it with iwearyourshirt.com.

“In this up and down economy I’m outsourcing my wardrobe (namely shirts) to corporate america and you! I’m going to wear a different shirt for 365 days straight in 2009, take multiple pictures throughout my day and blog about it. Days are sold at “face value” so January 1 is $1 and December 31 is $365.”

The project is already getting some early press, and January is just about sold out. You can see the full calendar here and get more details about how it works here.

If you’re thinking about starting a new clothing line, or are in the early stages of your launch, things can seem a little daunting. There just aren’t many resources out there for indie designers and business owners looking for a little advice and a push in the right direction.

Part of the reason for this is that graphic t-shirt design has just reached its tipping point, fueled by sites like Threadless and Teefury, and by the accessibility of selling products on the internet.

But this new e-book from Gino (of Color Overload fame) removes the curtain and exposes the basics, the tips and tricks, and the powerful secrets that have helped him become a success with his own clothing line.

The book, available in PDF, is 127 pages packed with good stuff. What kind of good stuff you ask? Well here’s just a sampling:

  • How to Setup a Website and Online Store System
  • Professional Blogging Advice for Clothing Line Owners
  • The Best and Easiest Way to Ship Your Products
  • A Sample T-Shirt Business Cost Breakdown
  • Elements Every Good Logo Must Have
  • The Pros & Cons of T-Shirt Fulfillment Services
  • Hot Tips for SEO Optimization No Designer Should Be Without
  • Google Secrets to Ranking in the Top of Search Engines
  • Essential Offline Guerilla Marketing Techniques
  • Cutting-Edge Online Marketing Tactics

Our favorite section (not surprisingly) is on the online marketing chapter. Besides covering the obvious (like using t-shirt blogs and forums to promote your line), the e-book has more than a few creative suggestions for online guerrilla marketing. We won’t give them away here, but suffice it to say there was some stuff we hadn’t thought of.

Fuel For Design is selling for just $37.00 and Gino is offering a money-back guarantee if you aren’t happy with the book. So really, how can you go wrong?
